Where an area of marsh or mire has its water retained by a main bund or by higher surrounding ground, it possible to build into the bund, or channel, a sluice system whereby the water level in the enclosed area can be controlled to best suit the needs of the habitat. DMS, practiced in the skill of designing and installing sluices into bund systems, offer this capability as part of wider marsh and mire restoration projects.
